Advisory Board Chair
Joshua M. Liao, MD, MSc
Dr. Liao is an internal medicine physician and affiliate faculty in the UW School of Medicine. Previously, he served as Associate Chair for Health Systems in the Department of Medicine, the enterprise-wide Medical Director of Payment Strategy at UW Medicine, and adjunct faculty in the Department of Health Systems & Population Health.

Dr. Liao serves as the Chair of the PROPEL-PNW Advisory Board. In that capacity, Dr. Liao works with Program leaders on strategic and programmatic directions, engages Advisory Board members to obtain input, and draws on his experience as the founder of the Value & Systems Science Lab and a nationally-recognized policy evaluation unit. David H. Au, MD, MS
Dr. Au is a pulmonologist, professor, and an accomplished scientist with expertise in health services and outcomes research. His expertise includes analyzing large datasets and testing interventions to inform policy and improve patient outcomes. Dr. Au is the Executive Director of the Center for Care and Payment Innovation in the US Department of Veteran Affairs. Learn more about his work.​
Anirban Basu, PhD, MS
Dr. Basu is a health economist and statistician specializing in research on comparative and cost effectiveness analyses, causal inference methods, program evaluation, and outcomes research. At UW, he directs The CHOICE (Comparative Health Outcomes, Policy, and Economics) Institute. Learn more about his work.​

Geetanjali Chander, MD, MPH
Dr. Chander is an internist and professor at UW with expertise in substance use as well as communicable and non-communicable diseases. She is currently the Division Head of General Internal Medicine. Learn more about her work.
Frederick M. Chen, MD, MPH
Dr. Chen is a family medicine physician and highly regarded expert in public health, health care delivery, and medical education. After serving in multiple roles in the Department of Family Medicine over more than two decades, Freddy recently assumed a national role with the American Medical Association, where he is the Chief Health and Science Officer. He also retains a faculty appointment at UW.

Bianca K. Frogner, PhD
Dr. Frogner is a health economist and professor in the department of family medicine, where she directs the UW Center for Health Workforce Studies. She has served as a governor-appointed member of the Washington state Health Care Cost Transparency Board and is the Chair of the Data Issues Advisory Committee of the Board. Erin K. Kross, MD
Dr. Kross is a pulmonary, critical care, palliative care physician, and an associate professor at UW. There, she directs the Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence, which encompasses a research program focused on improving palliative care for patients with serious illness and their families. Christopher Kim, MD, MBA
Dr. Kim is an internal medicine physician and affiliate faculty in the UW School of Medicine. Previously, he served as the Associate Medical Director for UW Quality and Safety. Currently, he serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Quality Officer at Wellstar Health System. Learn more about his work.

Christoph I. Lee, MD, MS, MBA
Dr. Lee is a radiologist and professor at UW, where he directs NW-SCORE (Northwest Screening and Cancer Outcomes Research Enterprise). This role is a result of his health services research expertise, track record as a physician scientists, and wealth of experience leading and executing large grant-funded research projects. Ashok Reddy, MD, MS
Dr. Reddy is an internal medicine physician, associate professor at UW, and the Associate Director of the Primary Care Analytics Team with the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. He is an experienced health services researcher, focused on delivery and quality improvement of primary care, including numerous studies on effects of the patient-centered medical home model. Amber Sabbatini, MD, MPH
Dr. Sabbatini is an emergency physician, associate professor, and core faculty in the Section of Population Health in the emergency medicine department at UW. She studies how payment policies and delivery systems impact patient outcomes and costs, especially for Medicare and Medicaid populations. Learn more about her work.​
